I know, I know, he’s been here several times already. But RJ Evans of Quazen was kind enough to scour Flickr to bring us more pictures of the best thing that has ever happened to Japan. Even better, most of the pictures come in desktop wallpaper sizes! Here are some of RJ’s finds:

tokyo-gundam-statue-1

The picture above is from Flickr user kanegen. It looks like something fired a puny missile from above at RX-78-2, and he’s saying, “Is that all you got?”

tokyo-gundam-statue-2

That one’s from shuichi. Apparently the enemy admitted that the puny missile was all he’d, thereby enraging RX-78-2. Super Saiya- oh wait.

tokyo-gundam-statue-3

And that’s from the equally mighty Wikipedia. The unworthy opponent has been dispatched, and the people are thanking their savior. All before lunchtime.

Read the full article for more pics and trivia. Here’s one that I particularly like: I already mentioned that the Gundam statue will be taken down at the end of August. But RJ mentions that both the Eiffel Tower and the London Eye, which are also colossal but are infinitely lamer than Tokyo’s champ, were originally put up for temporary display only. And yet they’re still on display. But only because it would be a bitch to take them down. I kid, I kid. I hope that the Gundam statue enjoys the same fate.

These amazingly detailed figures show off the softer side of some of the most ferocious fighters you’ll find in a Halo game, including the Flood.

I hate the Flood. And yet, here? I want to touch it.

Metrokane V-Gauge Wine Preserver to keep your wine fresh
Metrokane V-Gauge Wine PreserverQuite often when you have those wine celebrations you just don’t drink to the dregs instead you leave the wine bottle unfinished for the next time. The question is that when you corked it, there’s the air still left in the bottle and this is bad for wine quality as it gets sour in no time. In order to preserve your wine you’ll need a vacuum pump so that the air could be removed from the bottle. Called Metrokane V-Gauge Wine Preserver, this clever gadget is designed to preserve your wine.

Why have I not read about this before? The ParaJet SkyCar, invented by Giles Cardozo, is the world’s first street legal FLYING CAR.

parajet-skycar-2

As in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flying Automobile, except that it uses a nylon “Paramenia Reflex” wing to control its flight. The automobile is able to fly thanks to its gigantic back-mounted propeller, kinda like Thunder in Thunder in Paradise, except that it’s a automobile and not a boat. Why is it that I forget a lot of the things that my girlfriend and I speak about, and yet I have neurons to spare to remember Thunder in Paradise? Dammit.

parajet-skycar-1

The SkyCar’s capabilities were put to the test earlier this year when Neil Laughton, who I bet has 4 sets of balls, rode/flew the SkyCar from London to Timbuktu in India, a 5,000-mi journey. On the road, the SkyCar can go up to 140 mph. In the air the SkyCar has a take off range of about 490 ft, a cruising speed of 82 mph and a maximum altitude of 15,ooo ft. Here’s CNN’s coverage of the SkyCar prior to Laughton’s epic journey:

And now, thanks to ParaJet, any ordinary citizen on the planet can own a flying car, as long as that citizen has $82, 165 (USD) (£50,000) to spare. Check out ParaJet’s website for more details or to pre-order.  A flying automobile. WOW.
