Let’s play six degrees of anything! How many objects do you think will it take to connect an extinct shark with a pair of headphones? The answer is – wait for it! One. Razer named their latest gaming headphones after a prehistoric gigantic shark, the megalodon. At least they chose an awesome shark – according to Wikipedia, megalodons could grow to more than 59 feet long, which is the height of the giant Gundam statue. Wow. The Megalodon headphones might not be capable of swallowing you whole, but it just might be able to reduce your brain to soup with its ability to emulate a 7.1 surround sound system.

megalodon-1

The Megalodon headphones come with a remote control for adjusting volume (I’m not sure if I understood its tech specs correctly but it seems to enjoy you can tweak the volume of the virtual speaker separately), microphone sensitivity, levels and mute for both mic and speakers. The remote control also lets you easily switch from 7.1 surround to 2.0 for less demanding audio needs.

The Megalodon is priced at $150 USD. It won’t be available until June 30, but you can pre-order it now at Razer’s website. It’s for Computer users only (Windows XP onwards), but I don’t think anyone actually anticipates gaming headphones for the Mac.

zombie desert homebrew psp

Zombie Desert is only in Alpha, but the two-man team (one on art, one on everything else) promises completion by the end of the summer. The game, freely available for savvy PSP users, boasts a simple story: it’s the ’50s. You’re in a plane. It crashes. There are zombies. Oh, and gamma rays.

And guns.

If it cost money, I’d be sold.

Each pack of Motifo magnets ($79 to $99 USD) comes with nearly 1300 1-inch square magnets, along with diagrams to create numerous images on the face of your fridge. Motifo has put together pixel maps for a variety of celebrities, pop culture icons, and other patterns you can create on your refrigerator door. Each set can make any of the designs shown on their website, but the color scheme will depend on the kit you purchase.

At the moment, both GNR8 and Motifo are sold out of these pixel magnets, but hopefully they’ll restock soon. If you poke around a little bit, you might be able to find a set at Australia’s Pulp Creative Paper.

Macworld Senior Editor Roman Loyola posted a video guide showing how one can install Apple’s OS X Leopard on an SD card. The new Macbook Pros (save for the 17-in) come with an SD card slot, so you can install apps on the SD card and boot from it if for instance you want to perform repairs on the internal hard drive. It’s a very straightforward guide,  a format-this-and-install-that affair, but nonetheless helpful for non-techies.

sd-osx-1

Without fiddling with a Leopard installer’s disk image and throwing some stuff out, you’ll need at least an 8 Gb SD card to make a portable Leopard installation.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Wasn’t that easy? Now all you need to do is wreck your internal disk so you’ll have a reason to boot from the SD! I’m kidding. And before anyone asks, no, you can’t boot a Personal computer with this card.
