Apple has previewed the iPhone 2.0 software which due to release in June and announced the immediate availability of a beta version to selected developers and enterprise customers. The iPhone 2.0 beta includes both the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) and new enterprise features, such as support for Microsoft Exchange Active Sync and the addition of Cisco IPsec VPN. Appleās new iPhone Developer Program provides a complete and integrated process for developing, debugging, and distributing your free, commercial, or in-house applications for iPhone and iPod touch. Complete with development resources, real-world testing on iPhone, and distribution on the App Store, you have everything you need to go from code to customer. The iPhone Developer Program will initially be available to a limited number of developers in the U.S. and will expand to other countries in the coming months. You can apply to the standard program for $99 while the enterprise for $299.
The SDK now is available for free download and it will work only on Macintosh computer.
