At first glance, this sculpture might look like it’s made out of LEGO blocks, but it’s actually an intricate handcrafted work of art by Swedish sculptor Thomas Broomé.
The artist’s Low Res Man was fabricated from thousands of precisely arranged 1cm see-through acrylic cubes, then painted to look like a real person when viewed from a great distance. Upon closer inspection, he degrades into a low resolution, bitmapped shell of a man. The sculpture is loaded up with ropelights on the inside, so he lights up when plugged in.
Can you tell the difference between the real people and the fake plastic one in the exciting party shot above? I had a hard time myself.
Reading Books on Cybook is Just Like Reading Them From a Paper Nowadays, usual books are very uncomfortable to carry. They are big, they dont fit in pockets and they are damn heavy, especially when you must carry many of them. Thanks to the modern technologies, we have plenty of other methods to read. From cell phones to PDAs, electronic books now are getting more and more popular. Huge advantage of electronic books in the small PDA you can carry almost unlimited amount of them, and all of them are accessible in just few button presses. But we must admit that reading from usual paper is much more comfortable to the eyes, and there are no displays that can replace it. Or… are there?

The cabinet measures in at over 13-feet tall, and has a 70-inch screen for massively monstrous gaming action. I’d love to have one of these in my basement if it would fit.
Tonight’s AOTS episode (running at 7pm and 11pm Eastern) will show off the huge machine in more depth, so be sure to tune in if it’s not too late.

IR Detector Circuit Carlos demonstrates how to build a simple IR detector. Looks like it could be done for a dollar or two. “An IR signal is “seen” by a reverse biased IR diode which produced an electrical signal according to the light intensity. “An IR signal is “seen” by a reverse biased IR diode which produced an electrical signal according to the light intensity. This signal is then amplified trough a transistor and used to power an ordinary LED. This means that the LED will light up when the IR diodes receives some IR light (from a TV remote for instance).”

This gauge connects to your computer to reveal critical information about your PC’s current operating conditions. Rather than modern digital readouts, the Gigabyte Visual USB Gauge uses a good, old fashioned analog gauge to relay the current state of your computer’s power supply.
Designed specifically for use with Gigabyte’s Odin GT power supplies, the gauge plugs into your computer’s USB port and can tell you about the power supply’s current operating temperature, wattage consumption and fan speed. Just press one of the three LED illuminated buttons on the face of the device to quickly switch between the three measurement types.
If you’re into overclocking your PC for maximum performance, and you happen to be using the right power supply, this looks like a pretty cool add-on.
Enormous Swiss Army Knife Swiss Army Knives usually have something special about them. Yeah, why would you carry a box of tools and knives if they all can be with you in one case? You can carry that knife with you in pocket and you’ll never be left without tools when you need them. Average Swiss Army Knives have about 6-8 tools, but not in this case.
